Saturday, 22nd April 2000 Arrived at Jurby, signed on, went through scrutineering and signed up for the race school - you get an extra signature for this, and I wanted some extra track time. It started to rain - again, I seem to be unlucky in this respect. Practice was also wet but then it dried up and turned out to be a really nice day. I didn't do too well when it dried. I couldn't get my head round it at all. My lap times were consistent, but my best lap was four seconds off the pace of the winner in the restricted race. This is down to inexperience and no corner speed, which is an area where I have to improve greatly. The Big Yam is a rocket-ship down the straight, but gets out of shape a little on the anchors. My Pirelli Dragon Evo tyres (which aren't Corsa's, by the way!) tend to slide a bit. I'm definitely going for Dunlop D207 GPs next time up. Bog standard suspension doesn't help either... I don't know where I finished in the four races I entered, cos I was about to lap someone (Lambie - Ha, Ha!), on the last lapof the first race but in the results I seemed to finish behind him... So, I was 23rd, instead of 14th or 15th. It doesn't really matter, cos there's no medals in those places anyway. Signatures first - results later! |
