Sunday, 23rd April 2000 Sunday started of just as Saturday did. It rained when I put the bike through scrutineering, it dried up later and the sun came out. My lap times were similar to the day before, not going to win any races at this pace, but a signature is all I required. The first race, I sat on the grid when the flag went down and ran at my own pace and tried some different braking points - most of them wrong, but I'm learning. Got lapped by Chris Heath, who nearly took my front away. I turned around and had a look, because Nige Beattie and Milky would be right behind, but they were a distance away - Heath was flying! I wasn't too bothered, all I wanted was to finish, I didn't want to fall off or do anything stupid as I was going off on the boat the next day to race at Oulton Park. By the end of the day, I was starting to enjoy it more as I was getting the hang of it. There are some fast boys out there! The 400s can carry lots more corner speed than me, but I hope that will change soon. My best result was a 4th in the Restricted Race, I could have tried harder but I wanted to stay on, as I said earlier. There was no way I was going to catch my mate, Juan Kinnish, he won both restricted races and was absolutely flying. He and Graham Burden were going with me to Oulton Park, but unfortunately Graham fell off his 400 Honda when he low-sided at the bottom of the airfield and damaged his handlebar. Dave Madsen-Mygdal furnished him with a replacement to go away with. At the end of the day we packed all our bikes and gear into Graham's van and met at the sea terminal at 8pm. We jumped on the boat and were off to Liverpool... Drove from Liverpool to a B&B about 20 minutes from Oulton Park and got our heads down.
